Reconstitution is simply dissolving a freeze-dried peptide cake in liquid so it can be measured and injected. It changes the concentration, never the total amount of peptide. This guide pairs with the peptide dosage calculator so the numbers you read here become units on the barrel.
Bacteriostatic water (water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol to hold back microbial growth) is the usual diluent. The volume you add sets your resolution: more water spreads the peptide thinner, so each insulin unit carries less and small dose steps are easier to hit; less water means a smaller injection volume but coarser steps. A practical trick is to pick a volume that makes your target dose land on a whole number of units — the calculator's live readout makes this a few seconds of tuning.
Tilt the vial and let the water run down the glass wall onto the cake, rather than firing it straight in. Peptides are fragile chains; a gentle addition protects them.
Roll or swirl the vial slowly until the solution is clear. Vigorous shaking creates shear and foaming that can damage delicate sequences. If it does not dissolve at once, give it a few minutes in the palm of your hand.
Keep the reconstituted vial refrigerated, label the date, and draw doses as needed.
